Breeze Bike Rides in Wandsworth

We'll meet on Wandsworth Common, opposite the Bolingbroke Academy building site on the corner of Wakehurst Road and Bolingbroke Grove for a fun 9 mile ride including 2 parks and 2 commons, with one steep hill!

We will cycle over Wandsworth Common, then through back roads down to King George's Park in Wandsworth, where we will follow the Wandle Trail briefly, before taking quiet residential roads to Wimbledon Park.

From Wimbledon Park, we will take back roads up to Wimbledon Common - there is one steep hill here where we may have to push our bikes for a few minutes!  Then we enjoy a lovely off-road section on (non-tarmac) bike paths on Wimbledon Common, past the Windmill to Wimbledon Village.

From the Village, we will cruise gently back downhill, through Wimbledon Park, and via quiet roads through Earlsfield and back up to Wandsworth Common, after which we will end the ride with a cafe stop.

Hybrids and mountain bikes are best for this ride, due to the off-road section on Wimbledon Common.  Make sure your tyres, gears and brakes are all in good order to keep safe on the hills!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Meet the Champions

  • Judith Kent Judith Kent When I hit 40, I got my family to buy me my first bike in 20 years so I could start commuting to work - with two small children at home it was the only way I could see to get some exercise into my daily routine.

With the kids a little older, I then found I loved the cycling and wanted to do more - but got a bit bored going out on rides by myself. So I trained as a Breeze Champion and have really enjoyed getting out and exploring the parks and commons of South West London in company with other women.

My rides start on either Wandsworth or Clapham Common, are always at a gentle pace, fit within school hours (for juggling mums like me) and finish with coffee at a local cafe.

My profile picture shows me crossing the finish line at the Cycletta sportive on the Sussex Downs in September 2012. Five of us (complete sportive novices) from my regular Breeze rides thought we would give it a try, and we all made it round the 25 hilly miles.....what a sense of achievement.....Breeze rides can take you to unexpected places...!

  • Michelle Miller Michelle Miller Having lived in Manhattan and Central London for 15 years after university, it is just in the last few years that I've started cycling again. At first, this meant just around my SW London neighborhood as a way to get around faster and then longer rides to Richmond Park. Now in 2012, I've done nearly a dozen Breeze rides with a fellow school mum who is a Breeze Champion. I've loved getting to know areas outside my immediate neighborhood and other local women who have a 'quiet' passion for cycling. My husband is a keen cyclist and we are excited for our two boys to join us as they get older.

    See you soon!
