Starting Point & Postcode
Munrow Sports Centre, University of Birmingham Edgbaston B15 2TT
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 30 mins  (2 hours 30 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Birmingham

Challenging rides on the road for adults onlyIf you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.
Come and join us on this challenging, hilly route, with almost 400 metres (1300 feet) of climbing. We escape the City limits quickly and head out into the accessible, beautiful countryside that makes Birmingham such a great place to live. We takle the Waseley Hills, head through Catshill, push on straight over the Lickey Hills and pass through Barnt Green. What a ride, come on let go for it!
If you've already tried one of our Ride Strong Plus rides and you're ready for the next challenge, why not try a British Cycling Sportive?

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Westley Beckford Westley Beckford Hello everyone,

I love off road mountain biking and ride up the lickey hills most weeks,
I am an off road instructor and a bikeability instructor.
I work at Lindsworth School in Kings Norton which caters for pupils with special educational needs and in September i am organising a vocational on and off road mountain bike course which will involve basic maintenance.
I am looking forward to meeting all you keen riders soon.

  • Albert Biggs Albert Biggs I am a regular cycling commuter come rain or shine. I much prefer cycling to work than driving, it keeps my healthy, clears my head and most times, it is quicker than the car. I also love mountain biking too, can't beat being out in the open spaces of Great Britian. Cycling is fairly cheap, easy on the joints, it why is appeals to me so much.

The good thing about the SKY Rides it that you will be with other people who are either trying cycling for the first time/returning to cycling or just want to cycle whenever they can. Either way I look forward to seeing you at the SKY Ride.
