Starting Point & Postcode
The Bike Park Town Hall Square LE1 9BG
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 20 mins  (2 hours 40 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Leicester

Challenging rides on the road for adults only If you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.

This is a great wavy ride South from the city to Foxton Locks taking in the peaceful Leicestershire countryside.  We pass through some lovely villages on the way including Saddington , Gumley and then return via Bruntingthorpe , Countesthorpe and Blaby. A fantastic spin to be enjoyed best from the saddle.

If you've already tried one of our Ride Strong Plus rides and you're ready for the next challenge, why not try a British Cycling Sportive?

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Mike Vybiral
    Mike Vybiral Although only my second year as a Skyride leader, I've been organising and leading bike rides in S.E. Leicestershire for a number of years.

    For example, in 2011:
    'Summer Cycling', fortnightly 5, 15 & 25k rides on Wednesday evenings from the Fox & Goose, Illston-on-the-Hill;
    'Macmillan Harborough 100', a 100k charity ride from the Langton Brewery, Thorpe Langton, (which raised £7,500);
    'Welland Wonders', a choice of 50, 100 & 160k rides from Husbands Bosworth, which raised £500 for a range of charities.

    I'm also a member of the Welland Valley Cycle Club, which organises a whole range of bike-related activities for all ages, in and around the Harborough area.
