Breeze Bike Rides in Birmingham

Monday's Mini outing

Julie (Solihull Breeze) and myself (South Birmingham Breeze) have just started organising joint Monday outings and if you can't join us on this ride, for whatever reason, but are interested and available for Monday rides in the future please contact one of us on the numbers below. We plan to build a programme of rides/outings based on the abilities and interests of the women who want to take part. Each ride will have a shorter version depending which of the 2 start points you choose. Hopefully all will become clear!

The main ride starting at 10am from Shirley Park will be 18 miles approx - book on the Monday Main outing for this ride. This mini outing group will be the shorter version group(14 miles approx) and will start at 10.20am from the Car park at Billesley Tennis centre. Our joint route will then take us out along the canal and mostly quiet country lanes as we head to Hopwood to take in a tea/coffee and cake stop around the halfway point. IF YOU PLAN TO START/END YOUR RIDE WITH JULIE IN SHIRLEY PLEASE LOOK FOR AND BOOK “Monday's Main outing” on the website and do NOT book onto the mini ride.

This ride is for everyone who enjoys cycling and wants to be among like minded women cycling at a relaxed pace, making new friends, exploring the surrounding areas and most importantly stopping for a cake and coffee at the half way point!

In fact if you have any ideas about what you would really like to happen on the ride then please come along and tell us about it. Basically, Julie and I just want to start up a regular Monday cycling ride, we both love cycling!

So, please join us and either book onto this ride if you want to start at Billesley at 10.20 o'clock, or book on the Monday Main ride to start with Julie at 10am from Shirley Park.

Hybrid or Mountain bikes would be best as we'll be using some canal paths, weather/mud permitting! Just remember to bring a spare inner tube and money for a cake!

Next week's ride will be the other way round and slightly longer – main ride from Billesley picking up the shorter ride group from Shirley and heading out towards Packwood/Lapworth.

We look forward to seeing you. Contact either of us if weather looks “iffy” on the day or to talk about Monday outings

Meet the Champions

  • Gabrielle Key
Gabrielle Key I can remember having a bike and doing my cycling proficiency in the 60s but then didn’t cycle at all until a few years ago when a keen and road confident cycling friend encouraged me to have a go on her old bike. I loved our occasional trips out into the countryside and along the canals but didn’t have the confidence to venture out onto roads without her protection. Two years ago we discovered Breeze rides and I just loved the whole social cycling thing and the way the Champions looked after everyone in the group. Cycling with Breeze and Sky has opened up a whole world for me – it’s a fantastic way to explore the countryside, get from A to B under my own steam, meet new people, take on new challenges, keep fit and enjoy guilt free cake and a natter at the end of a ride! I hope, by becoming a Breeze Champion, that I can pass on some of my enthusiasm and encourage others to get on their bikes and join in the fun.
