Sky Ride Local in Manchester

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

A fantastic circular route using parts of the Trans Pennine Trail and some little used packed shale tracks over Carrington Moss. Our 11 mile ride also takes in quiet country lanes to the west of Altrincham where you'll find a great cafe stop at the Red House Farm Tearoom.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Gerard Broughton
Gerard Broughton Hi my name is Gerard and this will be mythirsyear as a Sky Ride Leader. I've always had an interest in cycling since I got my first three wheeler when I was about 6 years old - a long timer ago!

I enjoy all types of cycling from touring to big downhill (though I dont go as fast as some!).

Over the last couple of years I've done a couple of overseas trips - one to Marocco which was mostly big ups and fast downs. I also spent a couple of weeks cycling through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam which was a super experiance and one which I will never forget. I am now planning another trip to Vietnam and Laos for the end of this year.

I really enjoy meeting people on Sky Rides and getting to talk to everyone. Looking forward to meting you.
  • Laurence Kitchinson
Laurence Kitchinson I have been involved with Sky ride for three years now having participated in several rides with my three children each year and enjoyed them so much that I decided to become an assistant leader. We cycle regularly around our local area and when we take our caravan away on weekend breaks. When the weather is fine we cycle to school and back each day. There is no finer way to see the countryside around you than by bicycle and it keeps us all fit.
