If you’re fairly confident on your bike on dirt and gravel surfaces and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Off-Road Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, there is barely a metre of tarmac in sight on these rides so come and enjoy the scrunch of gravel and the squelch of mud under your tyres with us! Rides are between 6 and 15 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

'Melody of Mud' is a mainly flat route starting out in the outskirts of Manchester, an area chosen for its short climbs and wooded paths. Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Gerard Broughton
Gerard Broughton Hi my name is Gerard and this will be mythirsyear as a Sky Ride Leader. I've always had an interest in cycling since I got my first three wheeler when I was about 6 years old - a long timer ago! I enjoy all types of cycling from touring to big downhill (though I dont go as fast as some!). Over the last couple of years I've done a couple of overseas trips - one to Marocco which was mostly big ups and fast downs. I also spent a couple of weeks cycling through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam which was a super experiance and one which I will never forget. I am now planning another trip to Vietnam and Laos for the end of this year. I really enjoy meeting people on Sky Rides and getting to talk to everyone. Looking forward to meting you.
