Challenging rides on the road for adults only

If you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.

This 30 mile ride has a bit of everything and will satisfy the more committed cyclist looking for a challenge. The ride starts and finishes at Cannon Hill Park, just off Edgbaston Road. Once out of the city, the leafy lanes and complete tree canopy make the miles go by effortlessly, you'll have to try not to stop to take in the beautiful scenery! You will encounter wide roads, narrow roads, long straights, hairpin bends, sharp climbs with fun descents. This is a perfect Strong Plus route.  Are you up for the challenge? Come on lets go!

If you've already tried one of our Ride Strong Plus rides and you're ready for the next challenge, why not try a British Cycling Sportive?

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Mir Zaman Mir Zaman Hello everyone,

I've been involved with these rides both as a participant and as Ride Leader for a few years now. I enjoy cycling in general to keep fit and try to include a long ride at least once in the week.

As for this ride - I look forward to meeting you and sharing the same cycling experience. We'll have some fun out on two wheels, get to know some new areas or two and embrace the early morning 'fresh air' for a change...

Ride well with care and remember to make a point of being 'seen' if riding on the road..!!!
  • Neil Newman Neil Newman Hi
My name is Neil. I have cycled since i was a child and still cycle to work each day. I have done lots of charity rides all over the country in that time, my personal best being John O’Groats to Lands End in ten days which i did in 2010 .
This is my first year as a SKY Ride Leader and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and meeting new people and encouraging more people to cycle.
Hope to see you all soon
    Neil
  • Edward Barnett Edward Barnett Hi. This is my first year as a Sky Ride Leader and I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone that comes along on the rides. Cycling has been my hobby for about the last 12 years and I’m keen to try and help others enjoy it as much as I do and reap the benefits (both health and social). Sky Rides are a great way of getting into cycling - whatever your age or experience (not everyone can be like Bradley Wiggins – as you’ll see with me !!....).
As an ex-police officer, I am also very aware of the importance of road safety and believe that putting the time and preparation into these rides not only helps give everyone a positive riding experience, but also that we do so in as safe a way as possible.
I look forward to seeing you on the day and having some fun.
