Into the Forest - Strong Plus

Monday 1st April at 9.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Hengistbury Head Car Park Broadway BH6 4EN
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 30 mins  (2 hours 50 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Bournemouth

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
Spring Series 2014
As part of our Spring Series 2014 we have scheduled a number of guided rides near you which are all about getting the best out of the bike at this time of year.  This route is perfect for getting out on the bike and warming up on a crisp Spring morning!  Everybody who books on and attends the ride will receive a FREE Great Britain Cycling Team water bottle.
If the steady rides have now become a breeze, then come and join us for a 37 mile loop around the New Forest. Starting out at the Hiker Café at Hengistbury Head, we first make our way over to Burley. From there we do a loop out towards Brockenhurst and back to Burley, via the beautiful scenery of Rhinefield Drive, which is lined with a mixture of large rhododendrons, azaleas and some very tall giant redwoods and firs. Back in Burley we stop off at the Old Farmhouse tea rooms for some refreshments, before we head back again to Hengistbury Head.
This is a challenging ride which is nearly 40 miles in length but, if the sun comes out, you will be rewarded by a very enjoyable morning out in the New Forest.
*After the recent weather conditions some sections of this route have become badly potholed.  We have advertised this route as being accessible to all types of bikes but we recommend that road/drop handlebar bikes be ridden with caution on these sections.*

Rider Comments on the Route

  1. Robert Campbell-smith Saturday 19th July
Once again a fantastic ride with great company and fantastic caring friendly ride leaders
  2. Piotr Bialoszewski Monday 14th July
  3. David Marsh Monday 14th July
Brilliant ride. But please tell me why all successive Into the Forest rides have been reduced in length? They are just not the same any more!
  4. David Marsh Friday 11th July
Brilliant as ever. Real shame that the rides for 2014 have been cut down on ride length. There has been no reason given for reducing the ride lengths and I for one would like to know the reasoning behind this?
