Starting Point & Postcode
Munrow Sports Centre, University of Birmingham Edgbaston B15 2TT
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 10 mins  (2 hours 30 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Birmingham

Challenging rides on the road for adults onlyIf you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.

Come and join us on this challenging, hilly route, with almost 400 metres (1300 feet) of climbing. We escape the City limits quickly and head out into the accessible, beautiful countryside that makes Birmingham such a great place to live. We takle the Waseley Hills, head through Catshill, push on straight over the Lickey Hills and pass through Barnt Green. What a ride, come on let go for it!

If you've already tried one of our Ride Strong Plus rides and you're ready for the next challenge, why not try a British Cycling Sportive?

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Carl Miller Carl Miller Hi there, I started cycling in march 2011 and after taking part in a few Sky Rides found myself hooked. I now cycle to work daily and try to get at least a couple of distance rides in each week. I am looking forward to participating in the Sky Ride program again this year and am looking forward to meeting new riders.
I am a keen scuba diver and enjoy most outdoor activities
  • Neil Newman Neil Newman Hi
My name is Neil. I have cycled since i was a child and still cycle to work each day. I have done lots of charity rides all over the country in that time, my personal best being John O’Groats to Lands End in ten days which i did in 2010 .
This is my first year as a SKY Ride Leader and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and meeting new people and encouraging more people to cycle.
Hope to see you all soon
    Neil
