Pretty Packwood at New Year

Breeze Bike Rides in Solihull

Join us for the first ride of 2013 a pretty 12 mile circular ride starting from Lapworth Station as we head out towards Earlswood Lakes via Hockley Heath, before heading back towards Lapworth via Dorridge, and through the grounds of the historic National Trust property, Packwood House.

This ride is mainly on quiet lanes and we will ride at 9-10 miles per hour (medium pace). Suitable for ladies who are already confident riding on the road and want to increase their distances for fitness and pleasure. The route is suitable for road, hybrid or mountain bikes.

Please meet at Lapworth Station for a prompt 12 noon start. There is free parking at the station.  At the end of the ride there will be an opportunity for those that want, to enjoy a warming coffee/ lunch at a local pub. 

Please bring a spare inner tube, some change for coffee and ensure your bike is fully maintained for winter riding.

Meet the Champions

• Siobhan Scanlon Hi,
  
  I did my first Sky Ride in July 2010 in Birmingham and then discovered Breeze rides in June 2011 when I discovered them by accident. After falling out of love with the gym, I was trying to fit more cycling into my life and it was proving difficult, with work and family stuff!
  
  Through the Breeze rides. I have made some great cycling buddies, and we have enjoyed some wonderful rides out, evenings and weekends to a variety of local destinations. I enjoy the levels of rides on offer, which I can match to my fitness levels and other commitments.
  
  This year I am planning to lead some rides as a Sky Leader and looking forward to planning some new routes in and around Solihull and Warwickshire. I completed my first 100k ride last May and this year aim to cycle at least 2013 miles, and have entered some local audaxes and Sportives to help build up the mileage.
  
  Long term the plan is to do a Coast to coast ride in the near future. Its official I am now a cycling addict!
• Elaine Slatter Hi my name is Elaine and I am a Sky and Breeze ride leader. I have always been quite a sporty, outdoors type but my passion has changed from the gym and walking to cycling in the last year.
  I signed up to the cycle to work scheme last February and started commuting to work. I soon started to feel all the benefits of a daily dose of exercise and fresh air and found a local women only cycle club who I could ride with a few times a week. After nine months of cycling I’m proud to say I managed my first 100 miler.
  Now i’m happy to encourage other people and I think both Sky and Breeze are fantastic incentives to get people out cycling, whatever your level.
  I look forward to meeting you on one of the rides.
