Trio of ride leaders work wonders in Bradford
Published 13 August 2012
Congratulations to Aubrey Cooper, Nicole Stott and Naz Ali, our new Sky Ride Local Ride Leaders of the month.
Aubrey Cooper has been a leisure and commuter cyclist since his teenage years, often embarking on bike riding adventures. He's continued to cycle leisurely throughout his adult life and now has three eager children who love getting out on their mountain bikes. Aubrey became a ride leader three years ago, seeing it as a great opportunity to introduce more people to cycling. He enjoys leading rides, meeting new people and showing them some fantastic cycling routes right on their doorsteps.
Nicole Stott first started riding a bike as a child and soon fell in love with the sheer fun, excitement and independence it gave her. She became a ride leader in 2010 and has encouraged lots of young people from communities across Bradford to give cycling a go. Nicole says 'for me the most enjoyable part of being a Sky Ride leader is seeing young people who initially couldn’t ride a bike, enjoying the programme and taking up cycling as a hobby.'
Our final ride leader of the month is Naz Ali, a Bradford youth service worker who has used his links with community groups and cycling networks to bring the residents of Bradford together to have fun on a bike. 'In the last three years Sky Ride Local has gone from strength to strength and a great cycling community has blossomed within the city,’ said Naz. In 2012 Aubrey, Nicole and Naz have helped over 500 people across Bradford access cycling opportunities – a fantastic achievement.
A big thank you to Aubrey, Nicole and Naz from everyone at Sky Ride, for your hard work and dedication to bring fun, free bike rides to the people of Bradford during this amazing summer of cycling.
