Thousands celebrate the Diamond Jubilee at Sky Ride Bath

Four thousand people took to their bikes to celebrate the Jubilee weekend at Sky Ride Bath.
For the third year running Sky Ride Bath has been a fantastic success, with over 4,000 people taking to their bikes and enjoying a traffic free bike ride around the city. Participants cycled along a very special route that took in some of Bath's famous historic landmarks, including the iconic Royal Crescent and Botanical Gardens.
Brian Johnston, Recreation Manager at British Cycling, said: 'It's been a brilliant day, despite the weather there was a fantastic turnout, and it was great to see everyone riding their bikes and enjoying the day's entertainment.'
There was something for everyone today, with lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Live music created a great atmosphere, the BMX demonstrations left spectators utterly stunned and cycle magic put on a fantastic display of odd bikes. Also over 200 youngsters took part in Go-Ride Racing and got their first taste of competitive cycling.
Sky Ride Bath is part of a series of fantastic summer events organised by British Cycling and Sky. There are lots of Sky Ride Local rides happening in Bath to keep you cycling all summer. Find out more about Sky Ride Local.
