Surrey's super for cycling
Published 30 July 2012
Surrey's got something for everyone who rides a bike.
This weekend we got to see cycling in Surrey in a unique way. The world's best riders powered their way through Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, West Byfleet, Leatherhead and Dorking – and of course tackled the stunning Box Hill loop before heading through Oxshott and Esher ahead of their return to the Mall.
The county's top cycling locations extend far beyond the road race route. Our partners in Surrey are helping everyone find out more about the great places to ride in the county. If hills are your thing then the beautiful Downs and the Surrey Hills offer some of the most attractive riding in the South of England. The Thames basin areas offer largely flat routes and engaging scenery, and the county enjoys outstanding riverside trails, canal paths and bridleways. Five routes of the National Cycle Network pass through Surrey.
If you'd like a taste of cycling in Surrey and want to see what makes this place special, check out our Sky Ride Local rides. We've got family rides on flat, traffic-free routes. Or join us for a Ride Strong Plus ride; pacey road riding in a group for anyone inspired by our cycling heroes.
