Sky Ride Local arrives in Edinburgh
Sky Ride Local bike rides are arriving in Edinburgh for the first time, kicking off on Sunday 19 August. These free, informal, community rides are the perfect opportunity to get out on your bike and have fun with friends and family.
All rides will be led by British Cycling trained Ride Leaders, who are on hand to offer encouragement and support. Rides are available at a number of different levels that cater all ages and abilities.
Peter Riddell, British Cycling’s Recreation Manager for Edinburgh said:
‘Sky Ride Local rides are a great way to see Edinburgh’s stunning sights on two wheels. If you enjoy a nice, easy family bike ride with the kids in tow, crave an adrenaline charged 50-mile uphill challenge or everything in between, these rides are for you. Scotland is in the midst of a cycling boom and these local rides and routes are part of a cycling legacy for the city.’
With the summer holidays in full swing, these rides can double up as a way to keep the kids active and amused. There are lots of goodies for children aged 15 and under who take part in one or more free bike rides, including a goody bag and a fantastic Sky Ride Local hoodie.
Sky Ride Local is just one of the cycling opportunities offered by the partnership between The City of Edinburgh Council, British Cycling, Scottish Cycling and Sky. The Edinburgh rides are helping and inspiring people to re-discover the fun of bike riding and get 1 million people cycling regularly by 2013. Book your place on a Sky Ride Local ride now.
