Sky Ride City - FAQs
Published 27 April 2012
Is it for me?
Sky Ride city events are big traffic-free bike rides for people of all ages and abilities. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t ridden a bike for ages, or if your wheels have seen better days – everyone’s invited. And it’s completely free to register and come along.
Each event has a designated route but there’s no official start point or start time, and you can ride as much or as little of the route as you like, and stop as many times as you want. We publish a route map for each event as soon as the details are confirmed, so check out the map for your event and see where you’d like to join.
Not been out on your bike for a while? It’s well worth giving it a quick health check and some TLC beforehand to make sure it's ready for the road. Check out our tips for keeping your bike in great shape.
How do I join in?
Registering for the event just takes a few moments and really helps us plan for the day and make sure everyone’s kept safe and sound.
If you’re bringing friends and family along with you on the day, you can register them all in one go, so there’s no need to register each person separately. Everyone who provides their contact details receives a couple of handy email or SMS reminders from us about the arrangements for the event, including any last minute additions to the programme.
What shall I bring on the day?
Make sure you bring your bike (though bike hire is available at some locations)! You might also think about bringing a helmet, a puncture repair kit / pump, a waterproof (our rides go ahead rain or shine), some snacks and a drink. And it’s fine to bring kids bike trailers too.
Help! There’s a problem with my registration
If you’ve had a problem registering to attend an event, please go to our contact us page and choose ‘registration queries’. If you let us know what the problem is, we’ll try and sort things out as quickly as possible.
