Sky Ride Bournemouth - a special event
Published 9 July 2013
Bournemouth town centre will be transformed into a ‘grand prix style’ race circuit as part of this year’s Night Sky Ride event on Saturday 20 July.
Westover Road, Gervis Place, Exeter Road, Bath Hill and other town centre locations will form part of an evening race circuit which will be open to pre-registered elite cyclists to compete on, at speeds of up to 50mph.
Sky Ride returns to Bournemouth this July, aiming once more to encourage thousands of people of all ages and abilities join a traffic-free bike ride. This year’s event will take place between 6.30pm and 10.30pm, with the chance to ride safely with family and friends through the town’s streets, and with lots of fun and interactive activities on offer for everyone to enjoy. The evening culminates in a ‘Nightglow Procession’, the town’s first ever bike light spectacular, open to everyone. Light up your bikes and yourselves, and come along! Awards will be given on the night for the most unique and interesting bikes, the best lit bikes, and the best dressed riders.
It's a spectacular opportunity to see Bournemouth as you've never seen it before! Register now to join us.
Bournemouth’s Saturday Night Sky Ride and Circuit Racing is a free event organised as part of the Council’s Getting About initiative in partnership with British Cycling and Sky.
