Future Publishing and British Cycling team up on new magazine
Published 5 September 2012
Leading cycling media company Future Publishing has teamed up with British Cycling to create a new magazine aimed at leisure cyclists.
The publication, called ‘On Your Bike’ is being distributed free at 10 Sky Ride City events this summer. The magazine carries tailored information and advice for beginners, families and leisure cyclists. If you're going along to Sky Ride Edinburgh or Sky Ride Ipswich, don't forget to pick yours up!
The editorial focus of the magazine has been guided by research undertaken by Future Publishing, in collaboration with British Cycling, which highlighted key areas of interest for this audience. 'We found that new cycling routes and places to ride are very important to leisure cyclists,' said On Your Bike Editor, Richard Owen. 'Other key editorial interests centre around buying advice, fitness, repair and maintenance.'
The magazine will be handed out in and around the British Cycling bike café at the Sky Ride events – reaching tens of thousands of recreational cyclists.
'This partnership with British Cycling is part of a broader campaign to provide leisure cyclists with the advice and information needed to take their interest in cycling to the next level,' said Sports Publisher for Future Publishing, Dave Clutterbuck.
Stewart Kellett, Director Recreation and Partnerships, British Cycling said: 'As the organisation for all types of cycling, we know that new bike riders need support as they start out. Opportunities like Sky Ride city events, our local led-rides and Social Cycling Groups provide easy, free and friendly ways to get on a bike for fun. This new publication talks to new riders in a friendly and straightforward way, with no cycling jargon. We’re delighted to partner with Future in this development for recreational cyclists.'
