Bournemouth ride welcomes everyone
Published 30 August 2012
Our recent ‘Discover the dunes’ ride in Bournemouth was a great day's cycling for a mixed ability group.
Almost thirty cyclists took part in the ride from popular local spot Hengistbury Head, riding along the promenade and sandbanks, and stopping off at the café.
British Cycling's Ray Craig said: 'We were delighted at the turnout for the ride. We borrowed three special adapted bikes from Cycles for All in Southampton, which meant even more people were able to take part. There was a great community spirit, and lots of people stopped and asked us how they could get involved.'
The ride was just one of many Sky Ride Local rides taking place in Bournemouth. This year British Cycling-trained Ride Leaders are cycling out on over 1,000 Sky Ride Locals, at all levels from Ride Easy to Ride Strong Plus. Click the ride finder at the top of the page to find a ride near you.
Many thanks to Bournemouth Borough Council, Wessex Accessibility Club, and Cycles for All.
