Ask Nick at Sky Ride Milton Keynes
Published 19 August 2011

Joining us at the Mayor of London's Sky Ride Milton Keynes on Sunday 28th August? It’s a great chance to find out more about cycling for fun in and around the borough. Pop to the Bike Cafe and chat to Nick West-Oram, British Cycling’s Recreational Cycling Manager for the South East.
Nick is working with the local council and community groups to promote chances to ride across the area. He'll be happy to answer questions about joining a cycling club, finding out about bike maintenance, the Breeze network of women-only rides, Go-Ride and Go-Ride Racing for young people, as well as how you can join British Cycling.
Cycling was a way of life for Nick when he was growing up in the West Country. "Even though there were loads of hills, it was the only way to get to big towns!" he remembers. He's never been a lycra fan, but cycled to keep in good shape, and for fitness for other sports. "Cycling's great for cardio-vascular fitness and leg strength for rugby!" says Nick.
Nick's also been a regular commuter, so if you'd like any top tips on riding to work in London, Nick will have plenty of suggestions. Riding in Richmond Park and along the Thames are some of his favourite routes.
Nick says: "Sky Ride Milton Keynes is going to be a great opportunity to ride traffic-free through the town. The event's just one part of our campaign to get a million more people riding their bikes regularly by 2013. I’d be delighted to chat to anyone interested in riding their bike more often. Look forward to meeting you there!"
Register to join us at Sky Ride Milton Keynes on Sunday 28th August.
