Welcome to Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough is a great place to cycle, and now there are even more opportunities to get out and about on your bike in the area.

This year Middlesbrough is hosting a series of friendly neighbourhood Sky Ride Local rides, Breeze bike rides for women, and more. They’re all free to join, and it’s easy to register.

Sky Ride Local rides are fun, free community bike rides that offer a great way of getting out and exploring your local area and meeting like-minded people.

The Breeze network from British Cycling is all about fun, local bike rides for women, by women – and there’s a whole range of support and training too.

Social Cycling Groups is a new programme that encourages people to get together, find a place to ride and enjoy a bike ride at a level and time that suits you.

Clubs

British Cycling can help you find a club that’s right for you. Use the club finder to find a club near you. There are some great cycling clubs in Middlesbrough, including:

Training

Accredited training in cycling skills is available to anyone over 16 through the Open College Network. For the younger rider, Middlesbrough Council provides free cycle training for school children in years five to seven, organised through the term-time curriculum.

National standards training including Bikeability is also provided by Middlesbrough Cycle Centre, a Middlesbrough Environment City project supported by the Northern Rock Foundation, Sport England and Middlesbrough Council. The Cycle Centre is based at Middlesbrough bus station and is only a five minute walk from the town centre.
