Like many of us, Ian first got on a bike as a young boy but it is only recently that it has become a large part of his life. 'I’ve ridden a bike ever since I can remember, but started taking it more seriously when my joints started to wear out and couldn’t participate in other sports like I used to.'
Now passionate about the sport of cycling, and in particular mountain biking, Ian can be found regularly chasing that winning feeling in races up and down the country. 'I’m a competitive cyclist and race mainly XC on a mountain bike.' Ian has recently been competing in Mud Sweat & Gears in Thetford Forest.
Ian's also enthusiastic about getting other people on their bikes and for this reason became a British Cycling member. 'I’ve only just become a member so I could lead Sky Rides and help others get into cycling.' Along with being a Ride Leader, Ian is enjoying the other perks of membership whilst looking forward to taking advantage of some of the great offers available. 'I've found the newsletter to be a good read and am looking forward to taking up the Wiggle discount available to British Cycling members.'
Finally we asked Ian what he's looking forward to bike-wise, aside from the Olympics, in the remainder of 2012? 'I try and race abroad at least once a year so I'm looking for a stage race that I can get my teeth into.' We wish him good luck in his search and look forward to hearing how it goes.
